my kabuki play
Music is very important in this Kabuki plays, for example starting the play there is a stage direction that says, "A drum pattern represents a rain shower." There are no sounds which are taped, all the representations of nature sounds etc are produced a live. This is for the audience to feel the music closer to the play and to feel the vibrations of the music also helps when the audience tries to get really into the play.
Also singing is important, all the first plart of the play is sang. It is used as an introduction for the play, it speaks of love, the setting of the play, a little bit of the characters, it is all used as a type of narrator. All this is for preparing the audience get into the atmosphere.
The text is very simple, there is a plain dialogue between the characters, because what its important in Kabuki plays are the actions, which are described very well in the stage directions, also the costumes and make-up.
The actions are very repeated. Very often the characters say something and then act it, this in our type of theater would look bad, is called "mantequilla sobre grasa", we look to avoid it, in Kabuki they look to do it. For example: "I had not a hint of the true deepness of your heart." (He holds his hands at his chest, suggesting his heart.)
I think they do so because they want for the audience to understand the important actions, like this one.
This is the reason why the choreography is so important, almost all the play is represented more than through words, but through actions. The actors have to be also dancers, all they say have to be somehow represented by difficult actions.
I think the choreography part will be the difficult part next year with the play...

KABUKI!!!
All Kabuki plays are very visual, they have to have a lot of colors, big impacting images like scenery and props. Usually this plays need a runway extension on the stage for the characters to dance.
I have a lot more research to make, focusing more on costumes and dancing.

the story has two options, one is a family of 1o people counting the sun, i havent create the story completely, the other option is use the little mermaid story, because she has a lot of sister and i could apply the planets characteristics to each mermaid.
as the picture shows, i would like to use each planet to represent one person, this person will acquire the characteristics of the planet. For example, the person which embodies the sun will be called Summer, or Sam, it will be warm and eccentric because the sun is hot and the biggest star. Or saturn, i wanted to do this person down, because is so different to all the rest with its huge ring.
i havent thought well about the story itself, but i think it will be staged on the countryside, and the family doesnt have a lot of money.it will be a way of presenting theatre based on the theorist Stanislavski's ideas.

ONE ACT PLAY
the play was perfomed by the Cambridge. The play was based on a book, but the play was badly produced. First the backstage crossed every 10 seconds in front of the actors. i dont know if it was planned that way, but it looked messy. There were 5 actors. A family composed of a mother, father, son and daughter. and the boss of the boy. The father i think was the best actor of the play, he worked with his voice, played with his costume, he worked with his body and had a loud clear pronjecting voice. The mother, the daughter, the son and the boss didnt use their body enough. they offten interrupted other actors texts and said their texts wrong. i think the son needed a lot more work in characterization. they used wooden frames to simbolize things i couldnt understand. if i could re make the play, i definitely would change the mothers voice, the boy´s acting, review the cues and wouldnt allow the back stage on stage at any moment, use more clear scenery and worked more with spaces and color.
MARY POPPINS
the play was performed by the Flemming. we one thing i thought it was great about the play was the energy the actors had. The play was terrible, the text, the acting, the scenery everything, but it had a very high energy level. The actors i thik lack concentration, volume of the voice, pronunciation, and body expression. The script was too torn, i think the idea of the origins of mary poppins was to away from focus. the idea of mary poppins being latina didnt worked very well, i would´ve changed that content.
other thing i would work on would be the scenery, when they dropped the cloth to represent the woods and a boy "runned" towards it, it seemed too fake, not real. The actions and intentions worked on the play werent clear.
BE MY BABY
this play was performed by the san silvestre. The content of the play wasn´t very intresting, a house full of tennagers pregnat isnt a theme i would pick. The acting in this play was way betten that¡n Cambridge´s and Flemming´s. There was a very important thing that failed with this play, the volume of voice was so low i could bearly hear what they were saying. i constantly had to ask people what did the actress said! The scenery was simple, but changed constantly. The worke with the lights fufilled its purpose, but there were too many blackouts, every 2 minutes there was a blackout,. this i think tired the audience.
I would work with the volume and pronancuiation, cut some useless scenes which created unnecesary blackouts

porque tiene pajarito y esta embarazado!!!!!
at the end of the play we talked about it and i realized that eventhough the play didnt have any words, it was very clear because of the actions and even more because of the music and light effects. the way in which the LSF tell the story without words is amazing. this proves that the LSF builld a very important atmosphere in order for the play to take place

We went to see Extras. It was a play by just two actors that represented several characters. The play was in Spanish, and in verse. The most important performance techniques I thought were used were the use of the voice, pitch, intonation and volume. And also the posture, and mannerism. Because they had to play several characters, the most important things needed to make clear the change of character was those I mentioned before. The characters had to play women and they did so by changing mainly their voice, they used a much higher pitch and exaggerated intonation of a girl’s way of talking. And the posture was much feminine, not only the voice, but also the way they walked, moving the hips from side to side and arching their backs very exaggeratedly.
They used screen projections that represented the background. This image came out also with music that went with the picture; like for example they put the image of the dessert they put a song that was country and cowboy like. These images made the idea of they being extras in a movie, and feeling sorry for themselves.
The play was a comical play and had a lot of our culture right now, the language they used was very much of our own. The "gerga" they used was the same we use, and that made it intresting and easy to understand for me. It catch all my attention, i did fall asleep but because i was tired not because of the play. I would have enjoyed the play a lot more if i wouldnt have been tierd..
